Bringing God into the work place

I would like to share an incident that took place in office. It is one still sore and stuck at the back of my head like it was only yesterday.

Being a TV producer in Malaysia, fairness is not something you would often hear especially when it comes to the topic of cultural holidays. Malaysians love holidays, one at the beginning of the year, end of May, August, December... and this is not inclusive of the little holidays where the Muslims celebrate, or the Chinese or Hindu celebration... not to mention some king's birthday and even the recently concluded SEA Games 2017.

In my line of work, getting an off day would be a blessing. But what I had to go through was something not on the topic of vacation, but rather it was a certain person, who happens to be my head of department, felt that I deserve to be mistreated due to the fact that I was the only one that said person could not get a hold on.

Soon I realise that her mistreatment towards me was a personal issue, totally outside of work line. She starting singling me out, putting poisonous words into the ears of my colleague as though it was me who said them, and spouting lies about my working relationship with a certain male colleague.

Although it had created a rather bad image for herself; people started staying away from her habit of double trash talk about the people around her, bad talking about the CEO and such, but her unreasonable action itself somewhat makes me sad. Why is there such a person so filled with hatred and hypocritism?

Through out the course of this unforeseen affair, this one verse God placed in my heard still remains:
"Bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully used you" - Luke 6:28
This was the one verse that got me through my days in the office, and things got better. I believe it was knowing for a fact that I could not do anything about other people's actions against me, that is something only God can deal with. My action, and attitude towards that person changes for the better, and with that, her attitude towards me was less aggressive, even though at times there are still some prejudice towards me. But God is my strength, my shield and my sword, and Jesus Christ is my way that I shall follow.

If you at your work place are facing mistreatment from your colleagues, know that we Christians are called to work for God. Even at times we do not see it, but even the little things that we do in the office, for our bosses, or colleagues or even the cleaners, as long as we humble ourselves and do what God wants us to do, God will see though that we would not face things alone.
